FUJII Asa

FUJII Asa (1953-) Western-style painter. Born in Kagawa Prefecture. Currently resides in Tokushima City, Tokushima Prefecture. Graduated from the art department of Joshibi University of Art and Design. Beginning in 1975, she held personal exhibitions in various regions every year. She paints imagination in a surreal style. In 1976 she was first selected for Joryu Gaka Kyokaiten. She has repeatedly exhibited since then. In 1980 she was first exhibited and selected at Dokuritsu Exhibition. She has repeatedly exhibited since then. Received the grand prize at Tokushima Art Festival in 1980. In 1988 she worked on creating the original drawing for a mural for a public building in Tokushima Prefecture. Published works posted in the Tokushima Shimbun from 2002 to 2003 as a collection of postcards called “Kakuen no Hana Series.” Paints fantasy scenes with a theme of hanging gardens. Worked on the cover and illustrations of a 2007 collection of short stories by Unno Juza. Holds personal exhibitions every year, with a total of 35 thus far. In recent years she has held regular exhibitions at Ginza Inoue Gallery in 2008, and a regular exhibition "Ryokuoenkasui to Fujii Asa Ten" in Higashikagawa City and exhibitions at Gallery Harai in 2009. Currently a member of the Japan Artinsts Association and an affiliate of Joryu Gaka Kyokai. Part-time instructor at Shikoku University. Instructor of Western-style painting for Tokushimashi Bunka Shinko Kosha, and affiliate of Dokuritsu Bijutsu Kyokai.
