ITO Chikako Western-style painter. Born in Tokyo. She entered the world of Western-style painting after being captivated by Henri Rousseau when she was a young child. Graduated from Hoshi University. Moved to France in 1985 (until 1998). Moved to New York in 1993. Selected for a Salon d’Automne Exhibition in 2000, 2003 and 2005. Exhibited at Spain Art Award Exhibition (Santander, Cantabria) in 2002, held a personal exhibition at Ginza Mitsukoshi, and exhibited at Salon International de Paris. Held a personal exhibition at Ward-Nasse Gallery (New York) in 2005. Became a member of Le Salon in 2007. Exhibited at the Louvre Art Museum’s Carrousel du Louvre Art Show in 2011 and 2012. Held a personal exhibition at Shinjuku Isetan in 2012. Her works are characterized by lines that accurately show the magnetism of subjectivity and light and fantastical coloring. They are works that overflow with the sensitive emotions of Japanese people.
