MORITA Tensei

MORITA Tensei (1938-) Western-style painter. Born in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture. Currently resides in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Graduated from Musashino Art University. Studied under Nakatani Ryuichi (Issuikai). In 1960 he was assigned to Shizuoka prefectural elementary and junior high schools and Hatsuma Junior High School in Nakaizu Town. He engaged in teaching at public elementary and junior high schools for 38 years. In 1971 he participated in the second group to investigate art education in Europe, and he visited 8 countries. In 1981 he received a Shizuoka Prefecture education research incentive award and an excellence award for his practical activities on nurturing the expressivness, entitled “Design Education through Directing Ideas.” After that, he became a pupil of Nakatani Ryuichi. Received an Ichimai-no-e Gendai-youga Seiei Senbatsuten bronze award (twice) and exhibited at Shunju no Hyakumannin no Bijutsushi Senbatsuten. Member of Chuka Kokusai Bunka Geijutsu Koryu Kyokai. Shizuoka branch of Nika Association (coterie). Chairperson of Ijanru Izu Sakka Kyokai. Received the award of excellence and an incentive award at the National Park Fuji Hakone Fukeiga Concour. Yomiuri Shimbunsha headquarters award, Azumino City board of education award, and Nagano Prefecture board of education award at the IAC Art Exhibition. Currently a member of IAC. Held personal exhibitions at Shizuoka Isetan, department stores in Fukuoka, Tochigi, and Kanagawa prefectures, Numazu-Mishima Plaza hotel, and others. Important works include “Shonan Yacht Harbor,” “Harajuku Machikado,” “Uramachi Yakei,” “Fujisan,” and “Show Window.” Member of Izu Biennaleten. Member of Mishima-Pasadena Art Museum Fujisanten.
