MURAMOTO Akira (1944-) Western-style painter. Born in Tokyo. Studied under Nishimura Ryusuke. First exhibited at Nikaten in 1965. Specially selected for Nikaten in 1975. Invited to exhibit at the 13th, 15th, and 16th Showakaiten. Exhibited at Gendai no Rafuten, Tokyo Central Museum of Art Award Exhibition, etc. in 1983. He has been unaffiliated since 1984. Since then he has exhibited at personal and group exhibitions. Motifs are musicians and naked women. His techniques use a painting knife to make pictures created by points, and the coloring as well as flat and surface painting method sometimes invokes the altarpieces of medieval tempera.
