OOKUBO Yuichi (1968-) Western-style painter. Born in Tokyo. Currently resides in Hachioji City. In 1991 he created a design picture called “Hana” that was installed in the Tokyo Sesame Place. That was highly evaluated, and as a result he went on to take lessons in watercolors and oil painting. Since 2009 he has focused on oil painting and pursued unique realistic paintings (landscapes). He exhibited his works at municipal exhibitions, etc. until 2011. In 2012 he expanded his activities by being accepted for the Japan-France Modern Art World Exhibition, receiving a President of the Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly award at the Kokubi Artists Association’ s International Selected Exhibition, and being accepted for the Modern Japan Art Society Exhibition. In 2013 he was recommended and selected for the Japanese Today’ s Visual Art Exhibition in Spain (Valladolid, Castilla), recommended as a special member of the Kokubi Artists Association (former name: International Arts Association), accepted for the International Exchange Exhibition in Busan, South Korea and the Korean Calligraphy and Art Exhibition, and received awards such as a Kokubi art exhibit award, and he is continuing to dramatically expand his activities. He is currently a special member of Kokubi Artists Association.
