SHIMIZU Ikko (1947-) Western-style painter. Born in Gifu Prefecture. Currently resides in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture. Has loved climbing mountains for 45 years, ever since climbing Sugorokudake at age 18. Initially loved to take photographs of mountains, but began to paint in order to express things more imaginatively. Studied under Uehara Makoto. Has painted mountains for more than 30 years in an attempt to depict the form and colors of mountains. Has exhibited works at public exhibitions, group exhibitions, and personal exhibitions (7 times). Constantly exhibits 40 paintings of mountains in a “Hida Alpine Gallery Aoi Sanmyaku” and conveys exhilarating scenes of mountains.

"Hotaka Reimei." (Scenery from the peak of Mt. Kitahotaka). Created in 2012. Received a Champagne art label splendor of passion art gold prize at a Champagne art festival commemorating the 160th anniversary of Van Gogh's birth.
