UEDA Susumu (1961-) Western-style painter. Born in Kanagawa Prefecture. Completed a major in architecture at the Kanto Gakuin University Graduate School of Engineering. Began oil painting in 1989. Studied under Kameyama Hiroshi. In 1994 he exhibited “Spring in Rothenburg” for the first time at the “28th Creative Painter Association Exhibition” and was recommended as an affiliate. Since then he has exhibited in that exhibition through its 31st time. In 1995 he exhibited “Twilight Shadows on a Harbor” for the first time at the “21st Sun Art Exhibition” and was recommended as an affiliate. Since then he has exhibited in that exhibition every time. Exhibited “Town Emitting Smoke in the Rain” at the 23rd exhibition and recommended as a member. Selected for “Le Salon.” Exhibited at other exhibitions in Japan and other countries. Actively participates in overseas art exhibitions in particular. Places emphasis on Le Salon. Travels frequently to other countries and presents works based mainly on European scenery. Many works have a touch of mental imagery, mainly with people placed in scenery. Places particular emphasis on natural beauty such as beautiful evening views and night scenes. Master of Engineering. First-class registered architect.
